MCM Residence:
Situated on a unique heavily wooded lot with a designated wetlands basin, this Mid Century Modern (MCM) inspired residence captures the spirit of the owner's lifestyle while blending in perfect harmony with the natural setting. The challenging geometry and limiting buildable area of the lot helped inform the shape and massing of the house. Internally, the floor plan is organized into an intuitive public wing and private wing. The public spaces are oriented south with direct views of the natural wetlands setting with expansive windows and glass doors that open out onto a unique outdoor side loaded "courtyard" terrace with built in spa, water feature, and aromatic garden. The shape of the roof lines and its exaggerated overhangs purposely responds to the southern views and solar orientation by allowing sunlight to permeate the interior during the Winter season and providing shade during the Summer season. The slender earth tone Roman brick and gray panel siding materials purposely compliment and respect the tones of the natural context.
